LAKE DUNSTAN TRAIL

The construction of the award winning Lake Dunstan Trail was a rewarding venture for CliffCare to be part of.
The development of the trail included explosive work to accurately manage slip hazards and aid in the formation of pathways. Bridge construction on the side of cliff faces was an industrious challenge.
The entire project involved working in remote and difficult to access locations and CliffCare are proud to have delivered this project for the Central Otago Queenstown Trail Network Trust to a standard that has achieved Great Ride status as part of the Ngā Haerenga NZ Cycle Trail network.

wild wire wanaka

Wild Wire Wānaka is a Via Ferrata tourist experience located in Matukituki Valley Wānaka and is the worlds highest waterfall cable climb. CliffCare was employed to install the iron rungs which form the network of iron stairs and ladders into the vertical, solid rock cliff face to form the Via Ferrata climbing path. Additionally the team installed cable bridges that span the vertical canyons surrounding the waterfalls. A challenging and satisfying enterprise for CliffCare to be part of.

MAEREWHENUA + TAKIROA

The wāhi tapu (sacred sites) of Maerewhenua and Takiroa are locations of incredible significance to Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and of great importance to the heritage and culture of Aotearoa, NZ. Located in the Waitaki Valley, these ancient Māori rock drawings etched into limestone walls and caves are highly vulnerable to degradation, vandalism and pollution. CliffCare is entrusted by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu to provide monthly reports from careful observations regarding rock stability, erosion, rainfall and activity of significance in and around these sites.

NEVIS BLUFF

One of CliffCare’s major partnerships is with Fulton Hogan and their subsidary Aspiring Highways.

The maintenance and remedial work on the Nevis Bluff above SH6 near Queenstown is an important contract that involves regular scaling of loose rock in addition to a long term stabilisation project designed by Geo tech engineers which necessitates drill, blast, bolting and grouting work performed via rope access in conjunction with traffic management facilitated by Aspiring Highways on the highway below.
